How do I Obtain My Private Pilot License?

How Old Do I have to Be to Start Flying?

Students can begin flight training at almost any age. To fly an aircraft solo, the FAA requires students to be at least 16 years old and hold a Student Pilot Certificate.

To earn a Private Pilot Certificate and fly with passengers, you must be at least 17 years old.

No flight school can guarantee a rating or pilot certificate — regardless of what may be advertised. Success in flight training depends on each student’s dedication, consistency, and progress.

How Much Does the GIFT Program Cost?

The full GIFT Program is available for $2,000 and is designed to provide an affordable introduction to real flight training without the larger upfront commitment of traditional flight school.

The program includes FAA ground school, pilot mentorship, instructional flights, loggable flight hours that count towards your Private Pilot License, and hands-on cockpit experience — plus your 6th flight is free.

Unlike the Private Pilots License Program, there are no age or language requirements to participate in the GIFT Program.

The total cost of earning a Private Pilot License varies based on each student’s pace, frequency of training, and total flight hours required to meet FAA standards.
